Kepto helps you act on the things you save from Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. To do that we need some of your information. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Kepto iPhone app and this website, kepto.app.
The short version
- We collect what you save to Kepto — the link, the caption and what you tell us about it — so we can bring it back at the right time.
- We never ask for your Instagram, TikTok or Facebook password.
- We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising.
- The Sunday drop shows what people save most, never who saved it.
- You can export or delete your data whenever you like.
- This website uses no cookies and no analytics.
A summary to help you read the full text below, which is what applies.
On this page
1.Who we are
Kepto is operated by [Company legal name] (“Kepto”, “we”, “us”), [Company postal address]. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at hello@kepto.app.
2.What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. When you create an account we collect what you sign in with: [how people sign in, e.g. Sign in with Apple or an email address].
- What you save. When you share a post to Kepto, we receive the link and the caption that the app you’re sharing from passes along. Nothing else from that app comes with it.
- What you tell us about your saves. The intent you pick (like “Cook it” or “Go there”), the projects you create, any dates you add, and whether you mark things done, keep them for later or let them go.
- Imports. If you import saved collections from Instagram, TikTok or Facebook, we receive the saved items you choose to import.
- Messages. If you contact us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.
Information collected automatically
- How you use the app, such as when you open it and which saves you act on. We use this to pick good moments to bring things back.
- Device information, such as your device model, iOS version, app version, language and time zone, and crash reports that help us fix problems.
- A notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can send your Sunday digest and reminders.
Information we don’t collect
We never ask for, receive or store your Instagram, TikTok or Facebook username or password, and Kepto doesn’t access those accounts. Purchases are handled by Apple, so we never see your payment card details — Apple tells us only whether your subscription is active.
3.How we use your information
We use your information to:
- run Kepto: store your saves, sort them by intent and project, and sync them to your account;
- decide when to bring things back, and send your Sunday digest and up to three reminders a week for saves you gave a “when”;
- put together the Sunday drop of what’s popular across Kepto (see the next section);
- provide Pro features, such as project due dates and sharing, when you subscribe;
- answer your questions and send important notices about your account or these policies;
- understand how Kepto is used so we can fix bugs and make it better;
- keep Kepto secure, prevent abuse, and meet our legal obligations.
We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t share it for targeted advertising, and we don’t show ads in Kepto.
4.The Sunday drop
Every Sunday, Pip shares what people saved most that week. To make it, we count saves across all users and show the most popular items with those counts. The drop never shows who saved something, and we only include items once enough people have saved them that no one person can be singled out.
5.Legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you’re in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases to use your information:
- Contract — to provide Kepto and the features you ask for, including Pro.
- Legitimate interests — to improve Kepto, compile the anonymous Sunday drop, keep the service secure, and prevent misuse. We weigh these interests against your rights, and you can object at any time.
- Consent — for notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time in iOS Settings.
- Legal obligation — when the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
7.How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information within [30 days], except where we need to keep something to meet a legal obligation or resolve a dispute. Copies in our backups are overwritten within [a further 30 days]. Counts already included in a Sunday drop don’t identify you and aren’t deleted.
8.Your choices and rights
- Notifications. Turn the digest and reminders down to digest-only in the app, or off entirely in iOS Settings.
- Your saves. Edit or delete any save, project or date in the app at any time.
- Delete your account in the app under [Settings → Account → Delete account], or by emailing hello@kepto.app.
- Get a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@kepto.app.
EEA and UK
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal information, and to receive it in a portable format. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California and other US states
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access and delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. We don’t sell or share personal information in that way. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@kepto.app. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we’ll respond within the time the law requires.
9.International transfers
We store and process information in [where data is stored, e.g. the United States], and our service providers may process it in other countries. When we transfer personal information out of the EEA or the UK, we use safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
10.Security
We protect your information with measures such as encryption in transit and access controls that limit who can see it. No service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong, unique way of signing in and tell us at hello@kepto.app if you think your account has been compromised.
11.Children
Kepto isn’t meant for children under [13], or the minimum age required in your country, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at hello@kepto.app and we’ll delete it.
12.This website
kepto.app doesn’t use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and its fonts are served from our own site. Like any website, the servers that host it receive technical information such as your IP address and browser type when you visit, which is used to deliver the site and keep it secure. Download buttons take you to Apple’s App Store, which has its own privacy policy.
13.Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy as Kepto changes. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top, and if the changes are significant we’ll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
14.Contact us
